500 Women Scientists is a grassroots organization that serves communities by “making science open, inclusive, and accessible and transform society by fighting racism, patriarchy, and oppressive societal norms.” In 2021, the organization’s leadership reached out to me to create portraits of over a dozen women and non-binary people in STEM, illustrating the wide variety of disciplines within their membership.
