Michael Benjamin Lerner's latest album as Telekinesis, Dormarion, was the album that kicked off my summer. The songs are for walks through the city on bright days, late night drives home from Baltimore, and reading on the deck with an iced beverage. I was amazed that this show ended up at the Backstage portion of Black Cat, but I'm sure the band wasn't worried-- they're on a huge national tour, ready to hit Sasquatch Festival in their home state of Washington, and continuing to garner buzz without ever being a buzz band.
The best part? Lerner's a singer-drummer, which not only makes him generally awesome, but an incredibly hard-working musician as well. The room forgave his occasional loss of breath and immensely enjoyed this packed, sweaty, charming night.
