Yes, you read that correctly. Just in time for the holidays, the American Lamb Board bussed a handful of DC food writers, meat aficionados and bloggers to a few choice spots in DC to celebrate the versatility of lamb. We started at Union Market for breakfast - a spicy lamb bloody mary, lamb charcuterie plate, and finally lamb bacon with a side of lamb gravy on biscuits. Next we hit Zaytinya for lunch - phenomenal tzatziki accompanied pulled, spit-roasted lamb wrapped with feta, bundled in their house made phyllo dough. Happy hour at Ripple followed, with a fantastic black horse cocktail (Jefferson bourbon and Meyer lemon) and lamb heart carpaccio. We ended with dinner at Bourbon Steak, which meant I finally got to try their famous duck fat fries, and of course, the lamb leg entree with just-barely-baby carrots and hibiscus.
